After our failed first attempt to join the Pub Quiz in the Office Pub two weeks ago (we didn't got a table anymore because there were loads of people and we arrived way too late!), my friends and I made it to the Pub Quiz yesterday!
As we wanted to get a table, big enough for 10 people, me and Michaela went to the pub at 4.30pm. To keep ourselves amused we brought some playing cards with us, played some games, ate pizza, and chatted with the Irish waitors.

At about 7pm, all the others from our group of regulars arrived at the pub, which at that time was pretty full as there were many people who wanted to attend the Pub Quiz. After trying some Irish beverages, like Guiness and Snake Bite, the "Quizmaster" collected the money for the quiz and handed out a sheet of paper with celebrities on it, which we had to recognize. Some of them were very easy to identify, like Lady Gaga, whereas others didn't show enough of their face by wearing a hat and therefore we couldn't tell who they were. Then the actual quiz began and the Quizmaster started to ask questions, which were extremely difficult! We had to answer questions like: what's the energy between a system and it's surrounding area called; or: what's the only country in South America that doesn't border on Ecuador and Chile. Well, to be honest, we didn't even knew half of the questions. But who cares? We had a blast!

The second round was about recognizing songs and their lyrics. The Quizmaster played a song, then stopped it and we had to figure out the next three words of the song. This was by far my favourite activity because more or less the whole pub worked together as everyone was singing along, even when the music stopped! The Quizmaster just laughed at us Austrians, working together in a competition :D
All in all, we didn't even got one third of the maximum points. But hey! It was our first time. We were "virgins", like the waitor called us. And as our rank was quite low, he even gave us a round of shots. Well, that's the sprit, right?

| We're a bit sad that we didn't win ;) |
Attending the Pub Quiz was really fun and so we decided to go there again next Tuesday, to maybe improve our ranking. And of course to have a great time!
Tomorrow we're going to win. I'm pretty sure :D
ReplyDeletewell, it's a pitty, but we even did a worse job than last time ;-)
